27 questions about the love of my life and me

ok not a big fan of memes, but due to me working a lot and not getting my camera out to shoot as much as i’d like to, here are 27 questions i enjoyed answering about my best friend, love of my life and wife Steph (and myself):

What are your middle names?
Mine is Andreas, Stephs is Annette, which is kind of hilarious as we already have the same first names (Stefan and Stephanie).

How long have you been together?
Eight years … goin for nine this year.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We got to know each other working at an internet agency in 1998 where we fooled around but never really started dating “officially”. We did stroll around hand in hand and even woke up drunk on a parkbench one morning after a party/bbq the agency gave but never were an official couple. Later that year Steph quit the job and somehow we did not see each other much for over two years. We started dating officially in 2001 when i asked Steph to join me, my brother and a couple of friends to drive up to the island texel.

Who asked whom out?
I like to believe i asked her out to join me for a picnic and later on the trip to texel, then again Steph was the one that got back in touch with me via email after not seeing each other from 1999 to 2001.

How old are each of you?
i am 35 and Steph is 34.

Whose siblings do you see the most?
As i have an older brother and two younger sisters and Steph is a single child … i win

Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
I think the most challenging situation so far has been surviving the first 7 months as mom and dad after the birth of our son Ben. Ben had severe problems sleeping and was screaming and crying a lot. Steph was in pain contantly and we have both been very exhausted. it took enourmous amounts of strenght to get through all the trouble we had. Then again probably all young parents may feel this way.

Did you go to the same school?
Nope, i went to highschool in essen-werden, Steph went to a highschool in bergisch gladbach. We both went to cologne to go to college/universitiy, which is the town where we finally met. Steph was a major in marketing and business at a college whereas I have studied geography at the cologne university.

Are you from the same home town?
Nope. See above.

Who is smarter?
Steph is way better in organizing than me, I would be the technophile and like explaining how stuff basically works.

Who is the most sensitive?
I think we can both be quite sensitive, sometimes even oversensitive.

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Being young parents of a toddler, eating out has not been an option in the last 8 months. Our most favourite places to eat out would be the saturn cafe in santa cruz and the cafe50s in los angeles. Back home in germany we love eating out at our local mexican or italian restaurant.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
California

Who has the craziest exes?
Well, i think this is not that easy to figure out. Let’s say we both had quite “interesting” choices.

Who has the worst temper?
Ahem … that would be me. I can have quite a temper on a bad day. I also like to threaten not working tech-gadgets by getting replaced coldheartedly.

Who does the cooking?
50/50, Steph does an awesome salmon noodle cassarole, i can fix some tasty “Züricher Geschnetzeltes” or some nice tacos. problem is Steph is a vegetarian, so a lot of stuff i can cook is not even an option for her.

Who is the neat-freak?
To give you an idea: one of Stephs most favorite tasks at the end of a day is clearing the living room of all of bens toys and putting them in a drawer. I think structure gives her relief … which stands in total contrast to my rather chaotic way of doin things.

Who is more stubborn?
We can both be stubborn when we just had a fight. I need a bit more time to cool my jets.

Who hogs the bed?
Steph! Definetly. Her legs are all over the place at night, which sometimes leaves me stumbeling out of bed at night.

Who wakes up earlier?
Definetly Steph, she wakes up early in the morning. I would be the guy who sleeps until 9 o’clock and falls in front of his computermonitors with a cup of coffee.

Where was your first date?
If i remember correctly our first date was a picnic at my place, just when i had gotten phoebe (our golden retriever) as a puppy. steph brought cute decoration stuff and flowers and i had same food and a blanket. I remember Steph wearing a long flowerskirt and having short cute hair. it was a wonderful afternoon, even though puppy phoebe kept biting Stephs skirt … that helped getting a look at her beautiful legs though

Who is more jealous?
We both used to be quite jealous in the beginning but over time we have grown so fond of each other that jealousy does not really play a role anymore.

How long did it take to get serious?
I find it hard to name a specific time or timespan for that … Steph always says that she knew very early that we were “something special” and that she was not ready for it the first time we met in 1998. i would say she was very special from when i first met her and we connected on multiple levels. i loved our very deep and long conversations at night or our trip to the lago maggiore. i definetly fell in love with her back then. But we both needed some time inbetween to grow up and get our stuff together until we met again in 2001. So i would say things started to get serious in 2000, but got really really serious in 2003 when we decided to move in together.

Who eats more?
Like every other dad, i am the one finishing off the leftovers on my wifes plates

Who does the laundry?
To my defense, I used to do my laundry before Steph moved in with me. Somehow over the years my part in doin’ the laundry vanished misteriously.

Who’s better with the computer?
We are both fond of the inkernets, living with laptops, iphones, ipod touches, twitter, flickr, our blogs and so on. Being kind of a computergeek i may have a slight lead.

Who drives when you are together?
We switch on long roadtrips throughout the states but most of the times i am the driver.
